O’ shield me from life’s pressing woes,
Immerse me in your healing throes,
The splash of Summer’s sparkling hues
A tonic quaffed, my strength renewed!
(R Weisser 2012)
Summer in the South usually means two things: Heat and humidity!
Once the heat “sets in,” we are in the throes of Summer for the long haul, with no expectation of temperature abatement until October.
Our long growing season leads to bountiful gardens rife with vegetables and Summer flowers that are comfortable in the climate and that thrive in the blistering heat.
And the blooms of Summer can soften even the most hardened soul. Butterfly Bush and Crape Myrtle intensify with the temperature, and it’s a show that lasts through the season with little watering and minimal care.
The spell is cast, and the magic lasts!
Bring on the heat!
