Sacramento General Contractors,
Do you have a complaint?
We have all heard stories about bad contractors; poor workmanship, bad communication, and shady behavior. Sacramento General Contractors has been known to fall into this group also, that is why it is so important to do the research in finding the right contractor for you. But what do you do about the contractor who is not “up to snuff”? In California, you can file a complaint with the California State Licensing Board (CSLB).
How do I file a complaint about a contractor in California?
First go to the Board Web Site at http://www.cslb.ca.gov/
Once there, you will see tabs across the top of the page that looks like this.
Click on the contractors tab, you then scroll down to the link Filing a Construction Complaint.
On this page you will have three different types of complaints; the complaints can be made up to four years from the date of the act and applies to both licensed and unlicensed contractors.
There are three types of complaint that can be filed with CSLB.
- Licensed and Unlicensed Project Complaints – A complaint can be filed by homeowners, subcontractors, employees and public agencies.
- Licensed and Unlicensed Contractor Projects that are still Active – If you know the address of the project you may file a complaint about a job that is not yet completed. Chances are good that the Board will be paying them a visit.
- Building Permit Complaints – Is there a project going on that does not have permits? This is the form for reporting this activity.
So there is a course of action for those that have a compliant about a Sacramento General Contractor. Filing a report will help in “cleaning up” the pool of bad contractors out there. By doing this, it will be easier to find those contractors that you want to work with here in Sacramento.
