Super Bowl 42

By

The stage is set for sports biggest show, the Super Bowl.

As expected, the New England Patriots have skipped into Ari zona with an 18-0 record; the first of its kind. Unexpectedly, the New York Giants have made their way to the desert to attempt to thwart them on their path for perfection.

The Patriots will be heavy favorites to win the game as the opening line favors them by 12.5 points.

Prior to week 17 match-up between the Super Bowl combatants, I made a grave mistake in repeatedly saying, "The Giants MUST rest their players and prepare themselves for Tampa Bay." Well- they didn't, and were better for it. They played the Pats tightly for almost 3 quarters and took that momentum into three con secutive playoff wins on the road (Tampa Bay, Dallas and Green Bay).

No one's shocked that a Manning is in the Super Bowl for the second straight year...ALL are shaken to hear that it's Eli and not Peyton. The little brother has played light's out for the past four weeks in taking his team to the ultimate of destinations. The remaining hill is a tough one to climb, but few outside of New York gave them a shot to get this far.....

I don't really feel that with 2 weeks of preparation time, a mortal coach can out-scheme Bill Belichick (cameras or not)...I think the Pats are about as talented as they come on top of that. BUT, I think the Giants will give them a game and keep it closer than is going to be anticipated by many...and they, as the ultimate underdog will hold my rooting interest.

Underdog says: "Eli and I are like brothers from different mothers. I'm with him all the way!"

Jim - WOW... That was an awesome football game! Hate to say it Packer fans, but it was nice to see the look on all of those fans faces at the end of the game. I doubt anybody dressed in green and yellow saw that one coming.

Great Blog Jim! I'm with you and Underdog! I am a huge fan of the other Manning (Last year's Superbowl MVP) but I did go to Ole Miss so I will definitely be pulling for the younger Manning to stick it to Brady and Co. in Arizona! If Eli (Peyton is Manning) and the Big Blue play like they have the past few weeks, I think they will have that Lombardi Trophy in New York where it hasn't been since their Superbowl XXV win in 1990.

There is a great article in the New York Daily News about the Giants' victory!

Giants will find a way. Pats are great but are starting to show some vulnerability. The pressure is really on them to try and stay perfect. I believe the Giants will play fast and loose because they're playing with house money now. No one gave them a chance and yet they've arrived.

I have been picking against the Pats all year, well why not one more time. G men win this one. The Pats come up short of the goal line, How is this possible you ask well yesterday I saw this score.

Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer in straight sets in their Australian Open semifinal yesterday to end the defending champion's record run of 10 straight appearances in Grand Slam tennis finals.

 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5)

Federer is the most underrated athlete going. Brady has had the greatet QB season ever and he's still not as far ahead of the field as Federer is in his sport.

The Pats will adjust as we all know they were gunning for records in week 17. I see them winning big next Sunday.

Jay, the misses and I were watching (well, I was watching) NFL Network's Who is..... Tom Brady yesterday. I couldn't help but be pulled in by the same emotions I had watching him at Michigan and cheering for him to pull NFL upsets and win super bowls. Love the combine footage of him looking like he just walked in off the street, and running the 40 like he was in quick sand. She says, "I hope the Giants beat them." I looked at her and said, "not going to happen." Truth is, in a game like this- I won't decide my true rooting interest until kickoff. I thought I wanted Favre and the Pack to win the NFC Championship...but their lack of heart vs. the NYG's made me go 180 during the game...

I saw some of the replay on the NFLN myself...Giants looked pretty good....it'll be fun to see the wrinkles a 2 week layoff gets us! Does BB drastically out-prepare and coach Coughlin? Can the Giants play loose and free like they did in week 17? Does the unflappable Brady feel any pressure to cap of the perfect season, etc.?

I have the Giants game on my DVR recorder and I still need t oedit out th ecommercials so I can make room for the Super Bowl.

The Pats I heared this morning are not going to do a walk around today. I was a litle surprised by that.

Pats will win. Getting psyched and i am sure Danny T. is pumped just as well.
