The stage is set for sports biggest show, the Super Bowl.
As expected, the New England Patriots have skipped into Ari
zona with an 18-0 record; the first of its kind. Unexpectedly, the New York Giants have made their way to the desert to attempt to thwart them on their path for perfection.
The Patriots will be heavy favorites to win the game as the opening line favors them by 12.5 points.
Prior to week 17 match-up between the Super Bowl combatants, I made a grave mistake in repeatedly saying, "The Giants MUST rest their players and prepare themselves for Tampa Bay." Well- they didn't, and were better for it. They played the Pats tightly for almost 3 quarters and took that momentum into three con
secutive playoff wins on the road (Tampa Bay, Dallas and Green Bay).
No one's shocked that a Manning is in the Super Bowl for the second straight year...ALL are shaken to hear that it's Eli and not Peyton. The little brother has played light's out for the past four weeks in taking his team to the ultimate of destinations. The remaining hill is a tough one to climb, but few outside of New York gave them a shot to get this far.....
I don't really feel that with 2 weeks of preparation time, a mortal coach can out-scheme Bill Belichick (cameras or not)...I think the Pats are about as talented as they come on top of that. BUT, I think the Giants will give them a game and keep it closer than is going to be anticipated by many...and they, as the ultimate underdog will hold my rooting interest.
