I can't tell you how often people ask me to show them homes near 9th and 9th in Salt Lake City. Why does everyone love 9th and 9th in Salt Lake? Maybe it is unique shops like 9th and 9th jewelers and The Children's Hour. Or the restaurants like Mazza Middle Eastern Cuisine or the Delicatassen. Maybe it is the charming feel of the streets. Or maybe it is all of the hipsters. Whatever it is, people love it. Here are a few things you should know if you are looking to buy a home in the 9th and 9th area in Salt Lake.

First, homes do tend to be more expensive than other parts of Sugarhouse but are still relatively affordable. Average price per square foot in the area is about $110/sq ft for homes that need some work and about $160/sq ft for homes that are already updated. This makes a nice, updated, 2200 sq ft home about $350,000. While homes near 9th and 9th in Salt Lake may be a little on the expensive side, they are cheap compared to places like some parts of the Avenues, Harvard/Yale, or Federal Heights, where price per square foot averages over $200/sq ft.

9th and 9th in Salt Lake City has some really unique attractions. Here are some of my favorites:

Mazza Middle Eastern Cuisine – if you have never tried Middle Eastern Cuisine, you are in for a treat. Try the shawerma, it is incredible!

9th South Delicatessen – the food is amazing! Their sandwiches are to die for and their desserts are even better! It is more expensive that Subway, but well worth it.

Liberty Park – not much of a secret, but this is one of the best parks in the state.

Tower Theater – Unique, quirky, and one of a kind. If you haven't already been, you need to go check it out.

Gilgal Park – this park is a few blocks away from 9th and 9th, but it is still definitely within walking distance. It is collection of religious carvings that are in what used to be the artist's backyard. The most famous of these carvings in the Joseph Smith sphinx. Definitely worth checking out.

The Artesian Well – the best water you can get in town and it is free and is squirting out of a fountain 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Considering all that the area has to offer, homes in 9th and 9th in Salt Lake City are well worth considering. The homes are architecturally interesting and unique and the area is amazing. You can take a look at every home that is for sale in the 9th and 9th area at UtahHouseQuest.com.
