Chiropractic ads Searcy AR circa 20's. Dr. Swartz and Dr. Teem.

Here are a few interesting ads from an old cookbook that dates back to possibly the 1920's in Searcy AR.

I was surprised to find two chiropractic ads.  Dr. H. O. Swartz gave instructions for a happier and more healthy life.  Dr. Jewel Teem had an office at the Peoples Bank Building that we featured recently on a blog.  Telling where he was located seemed different because most of the ads in this book just say Searcy ARK and give a phone number.

Dr. Swartz has a very nice ad.  What was sound advice then is sound advice now.  Very nice bit of nostaligia. Funny, chiropractors were around even then too!

Barbara - I actual like those ads better than many I see today.  Nostalgia & wisdom wrapped into one post, nice.

Wow...I remember being told about our family doctor Making Calls...signs of the changing times...now Doctors can hardly make it to their car after hours without being attacked for meds...and Doc's used to make house calls and even list their residential phone numbers.

Barbara, I do like looking at these ads.  I love how simple they are!

Carla, I was surprised to find TWO chiropractor ads that long ago.

Jason, I like seeing the way they did ads back then too.  I prefer having a picture with them, though.

Debbie, going way back in memories I sorta remember lying in bed with my mother thinking I was dying and a doctor, I think, leaving the room.  There was a big old needle in my arm for glucose, I guess.  And I was at home so the doctor had made a house call?  P. S.  I didn't die.

Tony and Darcy, simplicity is good!

Hello from Marco Island FL. I was born at home with a doctor, Dr. Albright, in attendance.

Anita will have to tell the story about a doctor and her mother out on a street.

It's interesting how people became doctors in the early 20's. Doctors had limited formal education and Chiropractors must have had very little medical training. One article I read said that Over the past century, chiropractic education has developed to the point where government studies in the US consider it equivalent in the basic sciences to a medical education.

Farm labor was strenuous so plenty of folks had back and joint pains that chiropractors could relieve through manupulations.

Don, I had a friend who went to chiropractic school and I think it took about 5 to 7 years?  I know he was off in another state for a long time.  I like chiropractors.

Love Morris and Hartin's ad:  "we solicit your trade on a quality basis".    What does that mean?

Good question, Anita.  How would you reword it?

Ok...I didn't get what the statement was getting at...so...I asked a house filled with young men...here is what they responded...

"We solicit your trade on a quality basis"...meant that the Basis of their solicitation was based on the quality of their product...

I was thinking that they were asking for your business and would be willing to barter based on quality...

I guess I was thinking about the old country stores and how they traded flour for eggs...Oh well...

Anita, Debbie took care of that for me.  Read her comment.

Debbie, those men of yours are very wise!  I think they explained it perfectly.
