The VDOT commuter parking lot at Old Bridge Rd and Minnieville at the entrance to Lake Ridge, Woodbridge VA. has 664 parking spaces.
Construction of the lot coincided with the widening and realignment of Minnieville Rd which made the old lot at Harbor Drive no longer easily accessible to buses and car pools.
EXPRESS BUS SERVICE to the Pentagon and Washington, DC is available at the lot. Although commuter buses operate throughout Lake Ridge the majority of commuters board buses at the commuter parking lot. Obviously, PRTC does not operate a fleet of old buses similar to the one shown at the left, but has a large fleet of modern, comfortable vehicles.

SLUGGING (some erroneously call it hitching a ride which it is) is a result of the need to use HOV lanes on I-95 as much as possible. Commuters form a line at a designated Slug Line Stop in Lake Ridge- the VDOT Commuter Lot at the Lake Ridge entrance. For example, a driver will pull up headed for the Pentagon, but needs one more passenger to qualify for HOV-3. The first person in line going to the Pentagon will join the others in the car and away they go. It's free commuting for the slugger and gives the driver availability to HOV lanes on I-95 - win win!!
