DID ANYONE ELSE RECEIVE A CALL FROM A COMPANY WANTING 90% REFERRAL FEE

Has anyone else received a call from someone (THEY DID NOT LEAVE THE COMPANY NAME ON MY PHONE) stating they are looking for someone to refer clients to and their referral fee is 90% .  I could not believe that someone would expect me to do all the work for 10% of the offered commission.  I thought it was joke. Do people actually do this?  The company's number is 925-460-9820.  Just curious if anyone else got this strange call.

90%????  Good lord...I have issues with giving any of my commission, let alone all of it.  Sheeesh

RECR - That was pretty steep.  I wonder if people actually do that?

I recently had a relocation from Dallas to San Antonio. Referral fee was 35%. I would not have accepted the proposal with the 35% fee, except the home was a $450,000 home, I did realize a nice net. I would not go 35% on the lower value homes, just not worth it. And for sure I would never consider a 90%. That is crazy. Surely that call was not on the up and up.

When I see something like this the cynical side of me looks for an ulterior motive.  In other words, this may be an attempt to get information more than a business referral proposal.

Shirley - I am thinking it was some kind of scam but not sure.

Bill - You are probably right about that.  Why would someone even ask that of an RE Agent.

Maybe they meant 9%? :) I can't believe they would leave that on a message and think someone would actually call them back.

Pam - I listed to the message several times, they said 90%.  I can't believe it either.  I think they are hoping someone would take it for the volume or something.

I won't pay a 90% referral fee, but if anyone is tempted by that offer, I'll refer all my business to you if you simply pay me a 80% referral fee. Holy Cow

That's absolutely INSANE! I pay referral fees, but I think they've gotten completely out of control.  Folks are asking for 35% now and that's just plain greedy.  I personally think 10% is more than fair, but nobody would accept that.

Jim - That would be nice wouldn't it.  Thanks for commenting.

Gregory- You are right about the fees getting greedy.  I think these people are looking for someone who needs to bring something in that is not and taking advantage of them.

Wow!!!  I am amazed anyone would even think to ask for anything over 40%.  I feel 25% is fair, 50% is userous, and 90% ... well, I don't even know what to say about that.

Derek - same reaction I had.  I called them back and left a message telling them I am going to go on the internet with this because I thought it was a scam and they never even called me back.  I am surprised that no one else got this call.  I wonder what mailing list I am on.

Stella, I had one call and leave me a message asking for a 19% referral.  19 can sound like 90 if spoken fast enough.

I think the going referral rate is between 25-35% but I have seen this agent offering 50% to help sell her listing.
