Thank You Cards

 

One of my very first and most wonderful trainers was Tom Hopkins. I found him at a seminar (34 years ago) and instantly felt blessed to have done so.  I learned many valuable things from Tom but the one thing that resulted in my generating more business than anything else he taught agents was that Hand Written Thank You Card.... In fact Tom even wrote Thank You on all his business cards.

I generated more business from  sending Thank You cards (my goal was ten cards a day) than any other activity. I could write a book on the business I generated from Thank You Cards... for now I will just encourage everyone to start sending  these much loved and very appreicated notes to anyone and everyone... I promise that doing so will generate business...

Just think about this a second... Someone sends you an email thanking you for listing your home with them... Someone takes the time to hand write you a note in a lovely thank you card and mails it to you... Which one makes you feel special????

I love these notes so much that we (RE/MAX Wittney Estates) provide them free of charge for all of our agents with the samples that follow (in case they don't know what to write) and we also pay for the postage... The return on our investment is great and our agents are sold on sending Thank You Cards to as many people as they can.

Fred:  How interesting to hear Tommy Hopkins' name again.  He was MY first trainer, as well.  I spend three weekends... three days each... training with him in person at his seminars.  One for Listing, one for Selling, and one for Closing Skills.  And yes, I remember his insistence on the importance of Hand Written Thank You Notes.  As usual... Tommy Hopkins knew what he was talking about. 

It's all about making a simple, personal connection with people.  And I can just about guarantee you that if you send a hand-written Thank You note to someone, you will be the only one they will get one from.

Forget email, forget Facebook.  Having that note come in the mail, and having them hold it in their hands while reading it... is worth so much.

Hi  Linda...It's as old as time,sending personal notes and letters. My father would comment about somebody for years that took the time to hand write a letter or note. It Works and people appreciate you for being thoughtful.

Hi Karen...Some things never change, for some reason New Trainers like to put their new spin on how to Sell Real Estate and make it complicated...getting belly to belly so to speak  and personal contact on the phone and with the personal Thank You Notes all still work. Tom Hopkins was big here when I was young, I never took his courses then as I was doing mostly Commercial Real Estate...we taught our selves how to Sell Apartment Buildings and Land Assemblies...Mostly meeting people face to face.

Good stuff, Fred.  Thanks for re-posting.  We need to get back to the basics.  I had one of my best years ever due to multiple referrals I received after sending thank you notes to the agents on the other side of my transactions.
