My Sunday started out in a very typical way. Nothing out of ordinary was happening. I had a client who needed to see a house in the early morning, so that's where things got started. We had a little trouble getting in because the Supra lockbox was set to allow showings at 8:46 am, and I was there at 8:00 am. I rarely show property that early, but this client had a special need to look early. So, that was the plan. Finally, at 8:46 sharp, the lockbox allowed me in and it looks like I may have that one sold. Not a bad start.
I rushed home to mow my grass because today is a special day. Later today, we celebrate my younger son's 21st birthday. It seems like yesterday that he was toddling around the house. While outside, I decided to continue streamlining my life by gathering up "stuff" that needs to be taken to dump. One of those items was the old basketball goal the boys had growing up. It hasn't been used in years, so it's off to the scrap yard.
While I was taking out the last few bolts I looked up and saw a big black dog in my neighbors yard. At first, I thought was my Rottweiler. He looks like a black bear from a distance. He weighs in at 170lbs +-. I was just getting ready to call his name when I realized that big black dog was bigger than my big black dog. Finally, he cleared the trees in my neighbors yard and it wasn't a big black dog at all. Nope. It was a big black BEAR! I would imagine he was a good 300lbs. I was so stunned that I just stood there staring.
I grabbed for my cell phone to snap a picture, and I realized I left it inside since it was drizzling. Ahhhh! I ran to the side door. Locked. I banged on the door. Nobody. I ran around the house and went through another door. Everyone seeing me so excited kept asking, "What's wrong, what's wrong?" I said there's a bear in the yard. I grabbed my camera and ran outside and nothing. He was gone. My son and I looked for him, but he had made his escape. I was so disappointed.
The crazy thing is that I live in a subdivision nowhere near woods, forest or bear territory. How he got here was a mystery I guess I'll never know the answer to, but it was an exciting end to a good morning. I hope you have a great Sunday!
