If at first you don't succeed...blog again

Title Insurance with First American Title

Being new to this community (less than a week old) I felt this would be a perfect forum for this post.

Looking at all of the information and the great blogs on active rain it can seem a little intimidating to start blogging.  However, being one that once the decision is made then it is time to jump in with both feet I let the blogging begin.  One of the very first comments received could have been considered a bit snarky.  I quickly shut down the computer, put my tail between my legs and resolved that maybe this was not for me.  The more I thought about it, the more I realized that maybe it was just my perception.  We don't have the benefit of body language or inflections.  Only the occasional SHOUTING through text.  Since the comment was not in all caps I thought okay, I will give this another try.  So far so good and the other comments on the post have been kind and friendly.  By the way, thank you Active Rain-ers for that.

For all of us new to blogging and to active rain, I give a pat on the back.  Try and try again.  This really is a kind and friendly community with a lot to offer.

Dawn, you're doing fine!

You picked a great topic and made your point very well.  The most important thing I learned about blogging (after a few initial attempts) was this:  just go ahead and blog.  Don't worry about what anyone else thinks or try to emulate someone else's style.  Once you find your own style, you'll be fine.

I'm subscribing to your blog and I'll be looking forward to following your progress here on ActiveRain!

Welcome Dawn. Love the name! I'm glad you didn't give up and decided to continue blogging. It can be intimidating. Some times I find myself writing a blog and then I'll delete it, instead of posting. Was it good enough, is it interesting? You really do just have to go for it and not worry about getting featured or having more then 1 comment. I'm still having problems coming up with blogs to post! The title side can be somewhat boring.

Most folks are really nice on AR.  I don'tlike haveing to read between the lines since we don't have inflection or body language to interpret....so I prefer to be straight up in my comments and limit sarcasm to a minimum.

Dawn, be yourself when blogging. I learn about myself by reading my comments, but they are just someone else's opinion. I don't let any of it bother me. If you don't like what they say just laugh it off. I look forward to your thoughts from your backyard.

Dawn, thanks for sharing.  I know that you will be fine here, because it takes a strong, secure, and couragious person to admitt that you have made a mistake especially in this forum.  I like your attitude and determination to keep trying.

Welcome to Active Rain Dawn!  smileysI'm glad that you didn't give up after your first blog.

Even if someone doesn't like what I have to say, I'm still interested in their point of view.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so when I can't agree with someone I like the saying "let's agree to disagree"... problem solved.  See you in the Rain!

Hi Dawn,

I'm in the same boat. Just getting started without really knowing some of the standard etiquette. Luckily AR'rs seem to be a pretty friendly and welcoming group for us bungling newbies.

Dawn,

Great to have you here at AR. Wonderful network to enhance your marketing campaign and Internet exposure. In addition, the info here on mortgages, real estate, marketing, SEO is very deep. About the comments, just ignore the rare snarky ones, most of them are professional and participatory. Welcome.

Keep on blogging... it will get you where you want to go, but be careful about using too much of your time.  AR is a valuable resource, but remember moderation is the key.  Good luck!
