DIOCESAN CHOIR TO SING IN BROOKVILLE

By

This might not involve real estate but it's an event in my area and I will be performing with them.  Every so often, we have to take a break to maintain balance in our life.  Real estate business is so stressful that we need to turn the other way sometimes just to recharge.  I'm taking a break from real estate for one afternoon and be a part of this Great Performances.  Who knows?  I might get a lead there.

The Diocesan Choir will sing at St. Paul Apostle Church in Brookville this coming Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 4 PM.  St. Paul the Apostle Church is located at 2534 Cedar Swamp Rd. (Route 107), Brookville, NY.  Direction: From the Long Island Expressway (495), exit at 41North, when the road forks, take the left fork (107) after the overpass;  After Jericho High School on the right is St. Paul's, on the right, not that far from where the road forks.

The Diocesan Choir of Rockville Centre Diocese will be presenting a service of scripture, hymns and choir anthems focusing on the journey we take from ashes to Easter during the 40 days of Lent. They will be singing "Christ Be Near at Either Hand" which is an Irish tune (GARTEN) with the well-known Lorica of St. Patrick as the text, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross", arranged by Gilbert Martin, ‘Wondrous Love" by James E Clemens, Concertato on "Lift High the Cross" by Richard Hillert and other hymns.

The Diocesan Choir is a group of over 100 singers from various parishes throughout the diocese of Rockville Centre in Long Island, NY.  It was started 17 years ago and at one point its membership was about 280 singers.  I'm one of the founding members.  They have performed outside Rockville Centre, at the Basilica of Immaculate Conception and at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Washington, DC, at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, other churches in Delaware, Philadelphia, Boston, & Montreal.  They have also performed three times at Tilles Center for fundraising events and also performed Lessons and Carols during the Christmas Season at the Seminary of Immaculate Conception in Lloyd Harbor, NY.  So far, they have done three recordings.

Come and hear the glorious sound of music and it is FREE.

Rosalinda,

Good for you.  Singing is certainly a gift and to share it with others is the greatest gift of all.  My uncle used to sing at St. Patricks in NY and I sing with a group here in St. Louis.  I wish you well and hope your voice stays well for your performances.  When you get all that singing out of your system it will be time to go back to work.  Real estate can be harmonious too.

Mike - Thanks.  Nice to know you also sing with a group there in your area.  I actually belong to two choirs, my own parish choir and the Diocesan Choir.  I enjoyed them both tremendously.  As a matter of fact, my first listing when I started real estate eight years ago was from a member next to me at choir.  I happened to mention I just started real estate and she said I have a listing for you - $750,000 listing.  It was great.
