After a long and particularly hard winter, spring is finally upon us. That is the time when many people are ready to change their home's décor.
If interior decorating is not in your budget at the moment, why not consider doing a redesign of your home? For those who are not familiar with what redesign is, it involves working with a client's existing furniture and accessories and simply re-arranging them to make your rooms more functional for your lifestyle and to give each room a makeover.
A good redesigner will take into account the traffic patterns of your rooms, to make sure that each one flows easily into the next. Your particular lifestyle needs will be taken into account. It's amazing how different your home can look, just by rearranging the furniture.
You may decide that you want to take your redesign project one step further and change paint colours in your home as well. Painting is a relatively inexpensive upgrade, especially if you do it yourself.
So picture this:
· Your living room is now re-arranged into a much more pleasing and functional layout;
· Existing focal points in your room have been addressed;
· The walls have been re-painted to accentuate your existing furniture.
The only thing left to do is accessorize.
You may find that many of your existing accessories will still work in the space. If so, that's great. Your redesigner will tell you which accessories will suit and which ones won't. You may even be able to work some of the unused accessories into another room in your home. In a lot of cases, that is possible.
I like to think of redesign as the Botox® of the decorating world. It is a less expensive and less invasive option and gives your home a mini facelift. It may just be the right option for you.
