Next Gen Homes by Lennar - What a concept! I became aware of these homes about a year aLennar Next Gennd a half ago when I was at a Builder Realty Council breakfast and trade show. I can not believe that builders have not included at least one variation of this concept in every community they build in.

The simple concept is, a full residential home with a built in one bedroom apartment with its own access. With all the sandwich generation going on, this makes perfect sense to me. I actually sold a custom home a half dozen years ago that was built exactly for this reason.

It was a big beautiful 2 story home with around 4500 square feet of living space a 3-car garage with a 4th tandem slot, one staircase that went into the house from the garage, but two doors on the way up, one went into a two-bedroom unit that was tucked underneath the main house, they had a full kitchen, a master suite, a guest bedroom and a large family room, they also had their own exterior access from the side of what appeared to be the main house.

The home was built so well, that you would never know there were two separate houses in one, and for my clients it was perfect as they had elderly parents that needed a little bit more attention than just coming by on the weekends, but they could also live in their own space and no they still had privacy, which is very important.

I was recently showing homes in Castle Rock and my buyers were looking for a larger ranch model, we popped into one of Lennars new construction sites and they had a Next Gen home for sale. I explained the concept to my clients, they hesitated at first but agreed to look, and they were very impressed. Standing on the front porch the house has a main entry and just to the right is a second door, which enters the one bedroom attSandwich generationached home, very well thought out and great design, with a full kitchen, a stack-able laundry, large bedroom and full bath and nice living room space off the kitchen. These buyers thought it was a fantastic idea and realized that the mother would be moving in with them in the next year or two and how perfect this would be.

If you have a need for an additional space in your home, perhaps the aging parents or the son or daughter that needs to move back home for a while until they can get on their feet, this is a perfect model for you to check out, with 23 different locations along the front range from Castle Rock to Ft. Collins I am sure you will find a home for you

I think this type of home will become more popular as the population ages and multi-generational households become more of the norm.
