“The Gem of the Desert” is the City of La Quinta’s motto, and residents seem to agree.  Tucked into the foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains in the Coachella Valley of Southern California, La Quinta receives an average of 350 days of sunshine a year. The permanent population is 38,475, and the winter brings even more “seasonal” residents. The average temperature is 75 degrees, and the average annual rainfall is less than 5 inches.

La Quinta has 25 golf courses, 11 parks, several miles of hiking and biking trails, more than 70 gated communities, shopping, dining, entertainment and more!  La Quinta has long been a quiet hideaway for the famous and wealthy.

There are 18 holes of golf at La Quinta’s first municipal golf course at the SilverRock Resort.  La Quinta is the host city of the annual Humana Challenge Golf Tournament.

The La Quinta Arts Foundation hosts the annual La Quinta Arts Festival in March and has various displays and events during the year.  The La Quinta Museum is located near La Quinta’s Old Town and features artifacts and specimens from La Quinta's history.

Of the more than 70 gated communities, one of the most unique is Lake La Quinta, with 288 single family homes on fee simple land surrounding a 25 acre man-made lake. A community boat launch for paddle boats, kayaking, canoeing, electric party boats, and fishing for blue-gill, catfish and bass is in the 3 acre community park that has a pool, bbq/picnic area and tennis. Homes range from 2000 square feet to more than 3600 SF.  There is a roving security patrol along with a 24 hour guard gate.

Trilogy is another desirable guard-gated community, with single story homes built by Shea Homes on fee simple land.  This senior community offers many amenities, including an 18 hole championship golf course, tennis, club/recreation house, bocce ball court, gym/exercise room, community barbecue facilities, fire pit, card room, private cabana, billiard room, and picnic area.  The 1238 single family homes were built between 2004 – 2008.

Rancho La Quinta Country Club was developed by T. D. Development. The single family single story homes on fee simple land were built between 1994 – 2008. Some of the many amenities include 2 private golf courses, Gym/Exercise room, Clubhouse, Tennis, Club Community Barbecue facilities, Fire Pit, and more.

Andalusia at Coral Mountain offers a golf course, Club House/Recreation with gym/exercise, biking and hiking trails, Community pool and spa, 9 lighted tennis courts, 3 red clay, and more. The residences are on fee simple land and were built 2006 - 2007.

La Quinta is adjacent to Indio on the east, and Indian Wells to the west, and is just minutes away from casinos and other desert entertainment, shopping, and dining. It offers easy access to Interstate 10 to travel to the beaches, mountains, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, or beyond.
