Brookhaven at Johns Creek, a 55+ Community in Johns Creek Georgia
I stopped by Brookhaven at Johns Creek, a 55+ community in North Fulton county in the Atlanta area yesterday to check on the status of things since my visit a year and a half ago. This is developed by Jim Chapman Communities.
I was surprised to see the community is really going stronger than I imagined. The above picture is the sales office which was jumping and all the parking places taken in the middle of the morning. The manager quickly told me that there was a waiting list for presales which would not be ready until about July or August of next year.
It looks like they are nearing completion of a large section of the community; however there is another section in Brookhaven at Johns Creek available for building.
A drive around the community showed that the single family homes section is nearing completion. The Villa Condo Homes are selling well. Those look to be in the $290,000 to $311,000 base price area which is affordable since this is in North Fulton.
This community impressed me because it is in the North suburbs of Atlanta and not way out in the hinterlands as some other 55+ communities in Georgia. Very good for aging in place for all my fellow Boomers. It has a very nice clubhouse and there is a schedule with some activities, surely not up to the level of one of the Del Webb communities with a full time activities director, but enough activities to meet your neighbors. Also the last time I visited it was not nearly as completed as it is now, so that removes the fear of buying in a partially developed community, now that so many homes have been sold. Life Time Fitness is right across the street. My favoriate Cuban restaruant Palomilla's is right up the street.
My wife and I looked at this community as a possibility for us since we already live in the area and she volunteers at the Emory Johns Creek Hospital which is almost across the street, another positive for anyone living in this community. I need to bring her over to take another look.
