Let’s face it , it’s getting more and more difficult to save money. If you’re in that situation, but can afford to pay mortgage and insurance payments, as well as the costs of home ownership, listen up.

We have a special financing option in our state. The Housing Finance Commission has a program call the Home Advantage. Eligible buyers can qualify for a loan for up to 4.00% ( of total loan) in down payment assistance.

To be eligible for Home Advantage, you must not exceed an annual household income of $97,000.  In addition, borrowers need to attend a specific 5-hour home-buying seminar.  Plus, you’ll need to consult with a Commission-trained lender.

You do not need to be a first-time home buyer to take advantage of the program. Home Advantage is designed to help low-to-moderate income people purchase a new home.  Naturally, applicable credit scores and income verification will be necessary.

The loan is a deferred second mortgage, with no payments, at 0% interest.  It is payable in 30 years, or at the time of sale, refinance or transfer.  FHA, Conventional, RHS, and VA loans can be used for the program.
