Leprechauns Amongst Us!

I think most of us know that as a Realtor, you need to be ready for just about about anything!

But Leprechauns?  Yes, today, I learned that you do!

The office that I work in is located at the base of a new condo project that was just completed at the top of the hill behind us.  Lucky for us (and thanks to one of our agents) we were recently set up as the sales office.

We started offering tours and this morning I was on "tour duty" and sitting alone in the office.  All of a sudden, leprechanI see a sorta crazy looking guy yelling and running through our parking lot wearing a huge St. Patty's hat and some other St. Patty's bling. Mind you, there is only one way in and out unless you run up a shrub and tree filled hill.  He went in the parking lot and never came out.  Maybe he went through the bushes? "Weird" I thought.

Five minutes later, another one runs by, again, with the St. Patty's garb, running like a drunk man and marking the ground with chalk.  What the heck is going on?  My husband is on the phone and tells me to call the police.  Um, I forgot to mention that I am a complete freak and get spooked so easily so I was alarmed when I saw some crazy Irishmen disappearing into my parking lot.

Right then, up pulls a mini van and three women jumped out.  You guessed it, they are dressed for St. Patty's day.  Well, now I am not afraid to go outside.  They tell me that they are setting up a water stop for a running group and marking the trail to and from our parking lot. "What?  In our parking lot?"  After talking to them for a bit, I find that they had no permission from anyone but it all seems harmless enough so they proceed.

After this, I walk around the front of the office to walk up the driveway next to us to show a some non-runners the condos for sale. All of a sudden I am inundated with crazy St. Patty's runners!  There must have been 60 and they are running all around me and asking me to come a long with them!  They are all dressed in crazy St. Patty's get ups and having a good ole' time!

beerWell, turns out the water stop is actually a BEER STOP!  hahaha.  By the time I finished showing the condos, everyone had moved on to the next stop and I never even found out where they were from!

You never know how your day is going to be in real estate, but be ready for anything, even 60 crazy, drunk leprechauns running around in your parking lot at 10:30 on Sunday morning!

You know, I spook very easily too.  You seemed to handle it well.  I would have freak out, reach to call the police and hide under the desk...

That is too funny! Think what might have happened if you would have called the cops.

That's hilarious! My sister called me yesterday to tell me she went to school and there was a guy painted green wearing all things green, playing a green flute. She was weirded out. I reminded her that it was St. Patty's Day..thinking that she forgot. But she said "Duh, I know...it's still weird" lol so funny!!

Cristal, that is hilarious.  Nothing wrong with a few leprechauns running around I guess, as long as it's only 1 day a year! haha.  Nothing like spicing up a daily run, ;).

We had an old fella around our area for YEARS that was truly a Leprechaun.  I can't remember his name, but  he wore green year round, slept in a LOT of trees (that was kinda creepy, he'd jump down when you'd least expect it.) He never harmed a soul though.  You'd often see him in the downtown area (all 5 feet of him) making animal balloons for the youngsters during Saturday Markets.  He was missing a few fingers, and those that were left were a bit crooked, but the balloons always put a smile on the kiddies faces.  He was known around our area and also 120 miles down the road in Butte, MT.  Butte is a huge Irish town, and he'd walk the parade every year.  I learned this year that he passed away last year.  I'm sure he'll be missed by the locals.

Thanks for sharing your story! :)
