Bye Bye AgentMatch
In case you missed this news, NAR has discarded their plans for an AgentMatch program that was going to use an algorithm based on production (sales) to match clients with real estate professionals.
Personally, if they were planning to use something such as a psychological or communnication style profile, I think the idea may have a place in the mix.
However, I'm glad NAR tossed out AgentMatch.
NAR scraped the AgentMatch idea today, 12/12/13. If agents didn't see this coming, I feel horrible they wasted their energy jumping through quite some roller coaster the past few weeks. For those who thought it was a good idea, hmmmm. I have nothing to say.
I've shared my opinion on my blog recently, How to survive AgentMatch. If it did move forward, it really shouldnt affect many realtors because computers cannot replace humans. It never can. We are create to interact, with other humans.
Many years ago, Realtors were concerned if we would lose our job because the Internet will replace us. After all, the Internet changed the travel agency.
Here's the difference: The Internet and computers can change/ revamp/ improve processes (booking travel itenaries) but
The Internet and computers cannot replace expert advice and opinions - 2 very important ingredients to a real estate transaction.
People (Humans) are involved in a real estate transaction. "Stuff" gets on people's title work, credit, so on and so forth. It isn't just a clear path, as in you can simply turn it into a flowchart. It doesnt work that way.
So, as according to AgentMatch and NAR who boldly said, "Algorithms to match Realtors are MISGUIDED" and numbers don't lie (that's real) but they can't tell the whole story either.
Duh.... I wasn't sure who didn't see this coming.
But I can tell you, the effort to continue to rank Agents, providing great consumer selection criteria will continue to make its mark. This is not the last and I'm sure someone or some company will dream up of another way to bring this up again.
