A Reminder to Minnesota Residents All K-12 Schools Closed Tomorrow!

Suzanne's blog yesterday about the schools being closed was right on.

Parents need to check and see if their school is closed again.   A great majority of them are, but before you put your child out on the street to wait for the bus...

Check the TV, Radio or call the school.

Let's keep our kids safe.

It is rare that Minnesotans who take themselves to be pretty good about enduring cold will even begin to think about changing routines because of the weather, but, thank goodness, our Governor has taken the questioning out of the equation with a decree that ALL Minnesota schools will be closed tomorrow due to the frigid air temps and the even more brutal wind chill factors.

Thank you, Governor Dayton.

This is from the Kare-11 News website:

Governor Mark Dayton ordered all K-12 public schools closed Monday to protect Minnesota school children from forecasted dangerously cold weather. The National Weather Service is predicting that most of the state will experience the coldest temperatures in a decade with lows reaching -30 degrees and wind chills predicted to reach as low as -50 degrees. High temperatures from International Falls to Rochester are forecast to reach only -15 degrees.

"The safety of Minnesota's schoolchildren must be our first priority," said Governor Dayton. "I have made this decision to protect all our children from the dangerously cold temperatures now forecasted for next Monday. I encourage Minnesotans of all ages to exercise caution in these extreme weather conditions."

Sometimes people just need to think. I wouldn't even let my daughter stand at the bus stop in weather like you are having. There's just no need for that.

Suzanne wrote a timely blog.  Although schools are back in session, we still need to watch our kids in the cold.
