Horse owners find a very supportive environment in Prince William County
There are homes and home sites in all areas of the county that meet the zoning requirements permitting a homeowner to keep one or more horses on their property. Additionally, there are boarding facilities that also offer instructional programs. In the eastern part of the county Criswood Farm on Hoadly Road has boarding, instructional programs, a tack shop and horses for sale as well as a Gainesville location with an enclosed arena. The 40 acre Blue Top Farm in Nokesville has an enclosed arena as well as 50 X 50 paddocks for each horse to use when the pastures are too wet and muddy.
The Prince William Horse Association sponsors 14 shows a year. The Nokesville Horse Society also offers a full range of activities and shows for horse owners. English and Western shows are sponsored by both organizations.
There are numerous Equestrian Trails in Prince William County and the immediate Northern Virginia area. Additionally, the Marine Corps Base Quantico Riding Club has stables available to Department of Defense employees and their families.
