Boutique Hotel and Other Development in Nyack

There is a lot of activity in Nyack’s future , so it is a good thing that.the village has received a $200,000 grant to update its master plan. This seems like a good idea in light of the following future projects that face the village .

In Nyack, the near-future holds the prospect for a lot of new residential development. While commercial development in Nyack has been limited, the village is currently witnessing the development of one of the biggest commercial projects in years - the new NYLO Nyack hotel being built at the site of an former factory at the top of High Avenue at Polhemus Street adjacent to the northbound ramps of the Thruway's Exit 11 interchange.

New apartments opened this year on Main Street just east of Midland Avenue, with developers looking to build more residential units at Main Street and Midland Avenue. The former Pavion cosmetics factory on Nyack's border with South Nyack is slated for residential redevelopment, as is he old Orange and Rockland Utilities gas plant site at Gedney Street and Main Street. O&R is currently in the final stage of a clean up project on that site. Additionally, the Athene Annuity & Life Assurance Company of New York building (formerly the Presidential Life building) at the corner of Main Street and North Broadway in Nyack is being eyed for future residential redevelopment.

The NYSERDA grant will allow Nyack to hire consultants to examine options and develop possible changes to the village master plan - a process that usually takes several years and includes community forums and public hearings to come up with a final product. With the master plan usually comes changes to local building and land use regulations suited to meet the future needs of the village.

Glad to hear about this.  It does seem like Nyack has been getting a gradual face lift.  I wonder what things will look like 10 yrs from now w/ the new bridge (or whenever it is completed).
