Feng Shui Pop Quiz Answer: Why Is The Number 3 So Important?

Feng Shui (environmental psychology) taps into various realms of teachings and combines them to create a cohesive blend of various insights. Part of those teachings pull from numerology and in particular the number 3 carries great significance.

Answer:

  • In Feng Shui 3 is seen as a sign of abundance, creating the mindset that there is always plenty. This thought was adopted from a form of Buddhism and the story of the 3 saints of the west who represent infinite light, wisdom and compassion.

  • Taking another perspective on the number 3, we travel back to Egypt. In Egypt, the pyramids (Sacred Geometric Shape of the Triangle) are considered the symbol of Ascension.

Egyptians believed their buildings could help induce a higher consciousness.

  • Alchemy states 3 unifies the universe and captures the idea of wholeness.

  • The Holy Trinity has a powerful connection to the number 3 as well, the 3 states of being. God the father (intellectual- ethical self), the son (physical self) and the holy spirit (emotional self).

  • In mediation they speak about connecting to the "3rd eye," the doorway to our higher self and other spiritual realms.

  • Taking a look at the genetic make of our human bodies. It was discovered in 1966 that our universal structure of DNA has 3 molecules combinations, known as codons or triplets.  It codes for the proteins in our bodies.

The number 3 carries much more meaning then many think. You can see there are a number of teachings translated from the number 3 through various cultures and belief systems around the world. Each has spoken of 3 in a different language but the story always seems to be the same with how 3 connects to back to our human spiritual experience.

I had no idea, but the number 3 has been my favorite for a very long time because it's the number of children I have.
