Not About Real Estate -- Chosing to Obey the Law and Do What is Right

A few days ago Tammy Lankford made a blog post titled "Ask an Ambassador: can I use my AR blog for non real estate posts?"  This is a follow-up to that post.

I want to make a case that the non-real estate posts are VITAL to the survival of Active Rain.

I recently became aware of this incredible but short video from Clayton Christiansen on freedom of religion.

 

I am posting this to groups that are of general interest. I believe Clayton Christiansen has hit upon a fundamental cause for the decline of our country.

There are specific groups that cater to topics that are not necessarily real estate related. Here are a few of the groups that I like:

Celebrating Free Enterprise

Positive Attitude for the Weary Soul

Walking by Faith in the Rain

TEA Party  -- My most popular blog post is there. Check it out! Another popular post there.

As I was writing ths, I searched for some groups to recommend. I found that many of the groups are no longer active. The group Christianity in Real Estate has not had a blog post since 2012.

I want to challenge the readers of this blog to try to rejuvenate the groups that provide a platform for this kind of post.

David Shamansky - I am concerned that many of the best groups of this type have lost their moderators and are in-fact defunct.

SpiritualRain is another that I like a lot.  And I teach young children in Sunday School and have for 25 years now.  I try to instill in them even though they leave me when they are about 11 that they need to always keep God at the front of their mind while making decisions as teens and adults.  And I'm proud to say that some of them have grown up to become amazing adults who are making a difference in this world.

You are very kind John and I appreciate it.  I care so much about helping others here because when I started in 2008 I was welcomed with open arms by people who shared their knowledge and taught me a lot.

Tammy Lankford -- I checked out and joined SpiritualRain. It looks like it was founded by Mike Frazier whom I have followed for some time. 

Please help, Queen of the Groups, Anita Clark. These groups need special attention in the rework in order to keep them from going away.

Attn: Kerrie La Guardia,  If AR Staff could help by letting us know which groups no longer get active moderation, we could gather support for the ones that may be dying.  I am willing to moderate some groups that are "off topic" for real estate.

I put a helpdesk ticket in and was told the staff would look at the groups. They weren't much more specific than that.

Off-topic posts are my fave...I get to know more about you all that way.  

Groups is going to be a big project, it's already in their scope but not in the near future.  Currently the new registration process is along with bug fixes.  Maybe I can light a fire under their bottoms.  I'll try!

I feel you are our only contact who looks out for what is In the interest of the USER COMMUNITY.  

I feel that ActiveRain may die if Zillow and Trulia allow their own agenda to drive what goes through AR Development.

I am so thankful that you posted this video. It needs to be shown on real T.V. on a daily basis, in schools, government buildings, at Speaker's Bureaus, Corporations, Universities, in every building where votes are cast, and shared on Radio too!

Religion in our society is important and I think the courts got is wrong when they decided that "freedom of religion" meant "freedom from religion".

People do need a moral compass and when that is gone our society is gone too.

Good post John Mosier I post to about 30 groups (only 5 at a time of course) and of those 30 groups I think about half are spiritual groups.
