Emmy Award-winning brothers Stuart Margolin and Arnold Margolin star in this fast-paced comedy inspired by Neil Simon’s time as a junior writer for Your Show of Shows. Lucas Brickman has just started writing for the hit comedy-variety television program The Max Prince Show. He and his fellow writers compete to outwit each other and impress the host in hopes of saving their jobs.
Stuart Margolin is one of five actors to win an Emmy for the same role two years in a row for his character Angel in The Rockford Files. Margolin, who recently moved to Greenbrier County, was also seen in Love, American Style and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. He even made a guest appearance on 30 Rock in 2009, and many more.

“Like lots of us, I've been a fan of Stuart's work for years. His characters are always solidly defined, very believable, powerful and often delightfully quirky,” said Cathey Sawyer, GVT’s Artistic Director. Margolin’s character in Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Max Prince, host of the T.V. program The Max Prince Show, is based on Sid Caesar, host of Your Show of Shows. Playwright Neil Simon, who wrote for Your Show of Shows, gives audiences a front row seat to the behind the scenes action.
“[This is an] insider’s look at the madness that goes on in the writing of a comedy show, further made crazy by the insanity of the star,” said Margolin. Along with his memorable stage and screen work, Margolin had success behind the scenes. He has directed for television and film, and in 1980 he, released an album titled And the Angel Sings. In addition to his two Emmy Awards, he won the 1997 Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Children’s Programs (Salt Water Moose) and a Canadian Screen Award for his appearance on comedy series Call Me Fitz (2013).
“He has had an amazing career and having him onstage at GVT is a real honor for us,” said Sawyer.
