It's hard to focus with a Chainsaw in your ear

Friday's around offices Nationwide are usually associated with winding down your busy week. There tends to be a lighter and livelier atmosphere as employees and their bosses can see the weekend approaching. Especially on a Labor Day weekend such as this. Dreams of getting in that last camping trip of the Summer before Fall is upon us, and thoughts of sleeping in past your usual morning alarm are circling around all of our heads. I decided to make today all about getting caught up on paperwork and office bound duties that I had gotten behind on throughout the week. I had no showings or appointments lined up so this seemed like a perfect strategy going in to the day. That is until he arrived:

This hardworking gentlemen has been cutting down a dead tree from my neighbors yard for the better part of this afternoon and it just so happens to be right outside of my home office. It's hard to concentrate on anything when you've got a chainsaw blasting in your ears from about 20 feet away. This is not how I expected my Friday to go when I first woke up this morning.

At least the tree is history. I hope he didn't arrive too early in the morning. A homeownerstopped by today and mentioned their neighbor starts mowing at 6:15 a.m. Talk about a wake up call!

I can't work with that kind of noise. I would have had to leave and take my lap top and work some other place for the day.

Nicole - That would have been difficult to put up with for longer than about 15 minutes. I think I would have had to leave the house and go somewhere else to work.

Good morning Nicole. It must have been a pain, hard to get work accomplished, hopefully this project didn't take long.

Make it a great weekend!

Good morning Nicole.  The noise sure beats the possibility of it falling and doing damage.  A temporary headache that will soon pass

Hi Nicole.  Chainsaws and jet skis have such an annoying high pitch.  Bummers.

Nicole, Used to have issues with noise outside the office on a regular basis when I had the good fortune to have a window cube.  The commercial lawncare companies would be out with leafblowers in the middle of the day.  Now my cube is to the interior, so no more outside noises make it to me.  When all else fails, I put on my headphones and fire up a Pandora station to drown out the noise.  Bill

Nicole Doty - Gilbert Real Estate Expert you mentioned camping, which was my intention, and that wood may have been great for a campfire, but we went from 90 degree temps on Friday to a forecast of the 60's with rain for the entire Labor day weekend. That makes 2 years in a row we got the camper out a whole one time for the year.

The tree removal expert took about three hours in total to finish up the job. I just gutted it out instead of going to a local coffee shop. He did a nice job in cleaning up afterwards which was a plus.

Nothing worse than a constant noise like a chainsaw.....I'm not sure I'd have lasted the three hours.

When it's over you will be grateful.  In the meantime, all you can do is grin and bear it...which I'm sure you did.

Nicole, those best laid plans ... I happen to be extremely adverse to noise. Always have been - be it the noise from a chainsaw or that person that just won't shut up.  There will always be those unexpected events like you experienced on Friday.  I would likely have had to leave my office as the non-stop sound would have me wanting to jump out my window (LOL)!

Nicole you never know he might be in the market for a house.  You should have gone out and given him your business card :)
