Coming soon to Wailea Maui - Island Gourmet Market
There's not a whole lot of places to do your grocery shopping in Wailea Maui, despite the abundance of high priced real estate and well heeled consumers. Maybe they don't cook?
Thankfully there will soon be a new market at the Shops at Wailea - Island Gourmet Market is still under construction and coming along nicely on the north side of the parking lot. This will be a welcome addition to the upscale shopping center which recently was bought up by a Chicago company. High end retail stores abound here, along with restaurants and real estate offices catering to celebrities, zillionaires and foreigners.

Island Gourmet is an affiliate of ABC Stores which can be found throughout the islands. This brand claims to be all about fresh, and local, and even organic, which is what today's smart shoppers want. There will be a deli offering local favorites ( but where's the SPAM musubi? ) and freshly baked goodies. Wines and spirits will be available, as well as a lifestyle and gift shop. Sounds like an ABC store kicked up a few notches. Nice. No cooking required!
Hours will be from 7:00 am to 9:30 pm most days, with Fridays and Saturdays staying open until 11:00 pm. I'm looking forward to tasting what they serve up. How about you?
