Space NeedleStrategically located at 400 Broad Street, in Seattle Washington, lies a historic landmark that you have to see to believe - The Space Needle. A Sketch on a napkin by Edward E. Carlson, whilst in a coffee house in the year 1959, is how it all started. With a deadline to meet; the 1962 World Fair, the architects and contractors raced against time while paying close attention to each and every detail that would one day come to be this iconic landmark which lies west of the Mississippi river.

The 120 feet by 120 feet piece of land was acquired by the Investors for 75,000 dollars, as it was previously owned by the city of Seattle. This led to US Steel dubbing the tower 'The 400 day wonder' as the period of construction took just a little over a year, which was quite remarkable. The Fair drew over 2.3 million visitors, where it is recorded that nearly 20,000 people used its elevators each day of the fair.

The observation deck is 520 feet high and is where tourists from all over the world have travelled to see the scenic views. Views stretch far and wide past the Mississippi River to Mt.Rainier, Mt.Baker and Elliot's Bay waterfront where you can see ships passing one after the other. The motto here actually says, 'Where staring is encouraged.' This says a lot about the 360 degrees view offered. Flexible timelines are a major plus when you're thinking of visiting the Space Needle, as it is open 7 days a week from 10:00 AM to 9:30 PM. Well serviced by elevators, it will only take you a few seconds to get to the top without breaking a sweat, but if you're feeling adventurous it will take you a good 848 steps to reach the observation deck.

Eat at the Space NeedleThe Sky City Restaurant is the second rotating restaurant in the world. The ambience, friendly staff and most importantly great food are just some of the reasons that keep people coming back time and again. The restaurant is open 365 days a year, except when partially or fully booked for special occasions and facility upgrades. You can easily reserve a table online through their website or opt to call (206) 905-2100 for any meal of the day from Brunch on the weekends all the way to dinner accompanied by mouth-watering desserts. The restaurant is carefully designed to cater for those in wheelchairs as it is fitted with ramps for easy wheelchair access. The piano bar is also a great addition to this restaurant.

Lori - I not only love this particular post but love the way you have created, promote, and developed the "Ballen Method." It is also terrific the way that you have integrated your other posts that link on a page to your website. Might be calling you for the Debbie Reynolds "Ringing in the New Year Challenge."

Also, BTW - we enjoyed Seattle and the Lake Chelan area; the wines and winemakers are very creative and excellent! Best wishes for a great New Year!
