Violet Crown Festival
Saturday, May 7th, 2016
10AM to 5PM
Brentwood Elementary School
Join a neighborhood tradition this weekend with the entire family. There will be music, kids activities, food and artist / vendors for last minute Mother's Day gifts. Read about the full lineup and order of events throughout the day HERE.
Today the festival is associated with Violet Crown Community Works, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Austin, Texas, helping build a sustain community in Brentwood and Crestview by supporting neighborhood enhancement projects. The first festival in 2003 was aimed at fulfilling a vision resident Jean Graham had for the 120 foot brick wall fronting 7100 Woodrow Ave at the Crestview Shopping Center. The Wall of Welcome was completed and presented in 2008 after Jean and hundreds of neighborhood residents contributed to the tile mosaic.
The wall now depicts not just the neighborhood history / milestones, but gave families an opportunity to outline their roots and history. This neighborhood landmark is best appreciated in person....usually after a healthy serving of Little Deli!
