I Saw Fire & I Saw Rain

Last night's storm passed through quickly. Here are clouds from yesterday's storm in Flower Mound on May 10, 2016: Current Weather Conditions Flower Mound, TX  Wind gusts were powerful. But after the wind died down, I saw fire and I saw rain. These are my photos taken after the winds died down while still raining.

Quickly, I thought how fast a current situation can change. Life is a game of chance. When severe weather warnings prevail, storm clouds is something to pay attention to closely. A swift change in conditions means one must pay attention, look, listen, problem solve, and act decisively. Clouds are the study of science. Taking a chance is a personal choice and involves almost immediate decision-making. Some people take chances; they may be playing with fire - that's my opinion. Though beautiful clouds to look at, and quite amazing, I  thought, the fierce essence of fire in the sky put routine chores out of mind, out of sight and paying attention took precedence. The fiery glow consumed my thoughts...

Fire and rain defines discovery of science and chance in a new light. Through nature, education unfolds before our very eyes. For me personally, fire and rain is symbolic of fear of the unknown and the glow is hope for good endings. It was a good ending because last night's storm passed quickly for me in Flower Mound; yet perhaps others were not so lucky. Fire and rain, like life's game of chance can never be taken for granted. Would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this subject.

Thank you!!!

Patricia

Patricia, you captured some amazing photos.  Fire and Rain ... the cycle of life. Life like the weather can change in an instant.  When we face our fears (fire and the unknown) we enjoy the cooling of the rain and the strengthening of our soul.

Hi Patricia - we certainly can't or don't want to avoid risk.  That means that we should also  be prepared to face life's obstacles.

Grant Schneider - would it be great if Strategic Thinking began in grade school and the curriculum expanded on theories and scenarios throughout their educational experience to help groom children for the risks they will face throughout their life time? I think Depression is a serious crime that can be prevented if only everyone learned from an early age how to cope with challenges and obstacles that are bound to occur.

I've taken chances  time and time again in my life and yes, I've been burned by the fire, but I've also found my soulmate and am living the American dream happily ever after from one of those chances I took too.

Patricia, your photos go so well with your post. They're gorgeous but, show just how powerful Mother Nature is. I'm in the middle of taking a big chance now and while I hope I don't get burned I wouldn't regret it if I did.

Kathy Streib - I really appreciate your comments referencing vulnerability and just how small we are "in the big scheme of things." Throughout history, we are reminded that weathers patterns are not consistent, change is inevitable, things can change without warning. If we are warned, we have time to do something; if not, we are caught off guard.

I pondered the word vulnerability that you used. Just thinking about lives, or creation, randomly picked by Mother Nature, thrown, tossed into some vortex is frightening to image. Yet, it happens. Survival may depend on foresight, luck, taking chances, faith, acting quickly, or paying attention to warnings. After the storm is over, there is always something good that happens. I think about the Red Cross, neighbors, friends, and mostly strangers who support each other. Man does not exist alone, does he?

George Souto - I was amazed by the sky. The photos I posted the day before this one was posted were taken with my Cell Phone. I was really surprised to see the results I got from that distance. I stuck my hand out the window and pointed it up to the sky, thinking, nothing would happen. I took a chance and with luck, it was worth it!

Yet, I fretted because my 35m wasn't with me at the time. Upon pulling into the drive-way, I ran inside to grab my camera, still not knowing how good the photos would be. Snap, after snap, I was thrilled at the results. With wind gusts over my face, camera in hand, rain and all, I watched and paid attention to the sky. I couldn't be happier with the results.

Kathleen Daniels - enjoyed reading what you had to say and wanted to add, thank you for your support over the years. You have faced Fire and Rain many times over. I'm glad you are healthy. ActiveRain wouldn't be the same without you. You are a woman who faced your fears and your body, mind, and spirit were strengthened. How GREAT is that!!!

When there is cancer, survivors walk through fire and the cooling off period, like the rain after the storm is gone, changes everything. Every day is something to look forward to and I know you raise your eyes to the sky often.

Beth Atalay - you and I have replied many times here on ActiveRain and more than once by telephone. We have made an enthralling connection! I don't think its by chance our friendship is the result of ActiveRain. Yours, like many here on ActiveRain was meant to be.

Lottie Kendall - I can tell, we were both impacted by the sky in my photographs and the significance Mother Nature can have on people and the environment. As Kathy Streib mentioned, it brings out our vulnerability and we realize, just how small we are in relation to the universe! There truly is heavenly power!!!

Severe thunderstorms causes people to withdraw, seek shelter, worry about things outside their control, and emotions of family ties becomes strongest. Do you think, when there is Fire & Rain it's an opportunity for people to seek higher ground - meaning, don't sweat the small stuff, take the high road? I think it's times like this when it's necessary to look at things from a different perspective, makie changes, leave nothing by chance. Would you agree?

Amanda S. Davidson - Over the years on ActiveRain, I've read about many changes you had to decide on pertaining to business. Plus, your family stories about your grandparents tugged at my heart hard, for I know how much family means to you. Thank goodness you have great dogs to give you that unconditional love that goes beyond human connections.

Like the rain, life experiences precipitates growth, change, rebirth, something greater than we can't see or know until it happens. May your dreams continue to illuminate and influence you in the most positive way to bring forth enlightenment.

Patricia, it's late for me and on the heels of a jam-packed day with my sister and niece in Chicago, I can't tap into my deeper self, but I DO know that reading this was like reading poetry. Another beautiful window into your soul and through your eyeS!
