Just Say NO to Those Late Night Infomercials on Real Estate Investing
I just wrote a blog post about this very topic. I can always tell when the Phoenix real estate market is hot because all the real estate gurus put on seminars. Do I attend them? Yes, I do attend them for educational purposes. However, they always tell you to set up your own real estate network. One educator informed me that on 2% of people act on the information provided to them. Wow, that means 98% of the people leave their education on the shelf. Real estate is a team sport.
I am sure there many real estate agents in your local market that are doing real estate investments. Call them today.
Great post
Just Say NO to Those Late Night Infomercials on Real Estate Investing
We've all heard the infomercials coming at us very loudly about how we can make money (with no money down) using a simple and proven method of buying real estate. The host is fast talking, loud and very animated. Unfortunately these infomercials are just another way to dupe people, that don't know any better, out of their hard earned money . I don't understand why people still fall for these scams.
These time wasters promise big money and the system is so easy you can do it over and over again and make money hand over fist. Do you really believe that? If it's so simple, why didn't I think of that, and I'm a real estate professional? Have I missed something here? No...I haven't.
You also have to ask yourself why if it's so profitable and so simple, the host is willing to share his secret and he's not out flipping property. Instead he's taking time to make a television show about a system he's trying to sell you. This is the only proven way to make money with a late night advertised real estate investment system. You sell it over and over again to unsuspecting consumers.
The testimonials really crack me up. John and Jane Doe sit poolside and tell you how they were down and out on their luck, their car got repossessed, they were barely making it from paycheck to paycheck, and yet they still got a loan (with no money down) to start buying houses. Without a car I wonder how they got out to see property. These people aren't really sitting by their own pool counting their money. They are actors or friends of the host.
The other day I stopped at a yard sale and saw one of these proven investment programs for sale. I think the seller wanted $5 for it. It was a book and some CDs. I had to chuckle to myself. I guess the program didn't work and the seller is trying to get some of the money back.
The problem with these programs is that it makes the legitimate real estate professionals look bad. There are great investment opportunities in real estate, but you have to use your head, and consulting with a qualified real estate professional is also a good idea.
