My Personal Success Gleaned Through Social Media
When the art form called Social Media is mentioned, people move their thoughts to the familiar such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. So many of us have taken the plunge to get onto those sites and even dabbled with some consistency to become known and advance the curiosity to what is there.
Using it as a mechanism to attract business is another story and while there are so many experts willing to get us to the top of search engines for a nominal monthly fee, we still labor to find that special formula by ourselves.
I can recall the day back in Feb 2008, when a friend who happened to be a loan officer, called me and suggested I look up this new site called ActiveRain. He was responsible for the marketing of his office and also realized that by posting on ActiveRain, within minutes, he would see his efforts recognized at the top of page 1 of Google. This was big at the time as small business entities would have a difficult time competing with the big boys especially in real estate at a time when the lending business was taking a dive.
I didn't look at ActiveRain with the same thoughts as I would the more typical Social Media sites, but when you would read of someone looking for work on LinkedIn or how many glasses of wine someone had after a hard day at work on Facebook, at the very least reading about business around the country through the posts of other real estate professionals was far more rewarding.
My Social Media experiences have been enhanced and strengthened by being on ActiveRain. By learning how to make full use of posts with Localism entries as well as specific long tail posts that work to collecting those clients that want to work with a local expert, I have gotten attention and the business that comes along with the efforts. And while I will also read the occasional entry that mention needing a glass of wine, or stronger to calm the nerves, it is prefaced by the success story of helping someone find that special house to be made into a home.
I cannot detail the dollars that have come my way through my presence here on ActiveRain. I do know that I can appreciate where a specific caller has found me based on the manner of questions they ask on their real estate needs. My social media presence created by the addition of ActiveRain to my business . . . . P R I C E L E S S.
