Ask an Ambassador: why can't I find my posts on Google searches

By

There is not just one answer to that and there is no simple solution.  However, there are some things that work for me that I would be happy to share with you to try to help you get your ActiveRain posts found on Google.

First, are you a rainmaker?  And are you making your posts public?  Google cannot index members only posts.

Secondly? Are you writing what you think are clever headlines instead of Keyword rich think like a consumer headlines?  Recently I saw a question where a member asked if others were having problems with their posts here ranking.  I did a quick look through of their last 60 posts looking at the headline and first paragraph and I had zero idea where they worked. Nada.  That's not good.  When you write a headline you need to think "what will my potential clients be searching for on Google" and work those words into your headlines.  Some of my examples would be thinks I use that really have gotten both found and made the phone ring are:

Lake Sinclair homes with pools

Lake Sinclair homes with garages

4 Bedroom homes on Lake Sinclair

Forest Lake Village, great neighborhood on Lake Sinclair

Crooked Creek area on Lake Sinclair

Those have been words that my Google analytics show are popular search terms and looking at my site analytics is very helpful in writing headlines.  If you have a website you should check out search terms and know what people who do find are typing and then expand on that by using those terms and similar terms in headlines.  As winter grows close I plan on doing a post on Lake Sinclair homes with fireplaces.  People love a fire and winter and I'm going to take advantage of that opportunity.

Hopefully you find this helpful and can get your posts ranking and your phone ringing too.

Hi Tammy

A well done feature that can possibly help a lot of people. It's definitely gotten harder to rank, especially in some markets.

John Meussner it took me a while to figure that out.  But looking at stats on posts was a telling tale.  Comments and engagment here has it's place, but I walso want business generating posts too.

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents those are some intresting terms, but you never know what will make someone connect with you who has a real estate need.

Michael J. Perry Perhaps an inspiration for my next ask an ambassador post.

Carla Muss-Jacobs, Principal Broker (503) 810-7192 very true.  And even in my small area the competition is so much more on line than it was 8 years ago when I started blogging, but I also know from a few others here that even in huge markets you can pick a niche for long tail key word searches and still get found a lot for it.  Seeking out an underserved part of the market why what you can't find is a great place to start.

Sam Shueh garages are fairly rare here.  I'd guess that less than 50% of homes have one.

Lou Ludwig thanks and you have a great day

Beth Atalay pick your favorite niche or find one that is under served and go with that.  That is what Liz and Bill Spear did and he's written about how they get so many people seeking information on patio homes when no other agents seem to be providing that information.

Hannah Williams and that's a lovely sound

Joan Whitebook if no one ever sees it, doesn't matter if it's a really great post. So making sure we do all we can to make that happen is important.

Tony and Suzanne Marriott, Associate Brokers thanks for the reblog

Harry F. D'Elia I continue to learn here too.

Sana Solanki yours are the kinds of comments I love to read when I share what I've learned here.  One day you'll be sharing what you know and have learned here too I bet.

Lyn Sims sometimes I stumble across some great material with a headline that lets me know consumers won't ever find it.  Recently it was a title called "sweet deals".  I know a lot of people use that to say great.... but are they going to type it in a Google search?  And I say apparently not since the author of that post was wondering why no one was reading his posts.

Lisa Friedman hope you get great results when you do

Lottie Kendall I did give them an answer where I found the question.

Stephen Arnold thanks

Jeff Dowler it's certainly market saturation specific as to degree of difficulty in ranking. That's when you have to take it step further and go for specific neighborhoods or school districts (something we don't have much of here)

Liz and Bill Spear your niche serves to inspire all of us with it's success, not that I have enough patio homes here to make that my thing, BUT certainly the idea and tweeking it to low maintenance retirement areas on Lake Sinclair has been very successful for me.

Sandy Padula and Norm Padula, JD, GRI NMLS#1483386 and there is always more to learn and some great minds here sharing things.
