I've spent all month trying to decide about what I was going to write about that inspired me. I read Paul's post over and over trying to figure out what ONE thing that inspires me to write about and then last night when I was snuggling with my cat I know what this post would say.
I am easy to inspire. I look to be inspired and I find it daily. Paul finds quotes and photos daily to inspire him, they aren't the same so hopefully he didn't expect me to stop at one either.
When I was snuggling Gabby who is a very sick *but fighting for wellness* cat I thought back to the day I had to put down shop cat. Shop cat was 13 and it was just one day past my second failed marriage. It was time and he had let me know. I was sure in that moment that I would never love another man or animal again. But the last moments with my cat he looked up at me and I could tell he was thanking me for the 13 good years we had together and stopping the pain. I was inspired to keep rescuing. I currently have 6.
I've been teaching Sunday School for 25 years now. I have taught 5 year olds that are now nurses, preachers, teachers, photographers, moms, and dads. They are helpers in their community and they are believers. They ALL inspire me to share my faith often.
My daughter, when she was just 6, took control in situation where her friends mom had just been shot in an accident. Yes you read that right, she took charge at 6 and got towels, instructed someone to put pressure on the wounds, called 9-1-1 and calmed her friend. Today she's a college graduate, a working paramedic and about to go back to school to become a nurse. She loves to save lives and is ambitious to a fault. She inspires me to be a care giver.
My parents, who will celebrate 53 years together on their next anniversary, inspire me to be my best self. My parents taught my brother and I to be hard workers, responsible and to care about others and give of our time and money to others. They continue to inspire me. My daddy is currently working on something very special for me to gift to someone else this Christmas. They inspire me to love life and other people.
My in laws. Having been married before when I went to meet Donald's family I was prepared by my experience for having to work to get them to like me. It was awe inspiring to see the family love and welcome to the family I got when I met each of them. I never had to prove a thing. I just had to love Donald and that was enough for them. I believe that act from his family will inspire me to be a great mother in law.
My husband. If you've known me for a minute you know I'm over the moon for the man. Donald would not have a shirt and go buy one for you. He would have enough money to buy one lunch and give it to a hungry man on the street. He would stop and help a turtle finish crossing a busy highway and get to the safe zone. He would have dinner ready when I walk in the door. He would drive to town to buy me a blizzard and DQ when I've had a really crappy day. He remembers silly event anniversaries.... our first kiss, our first I love you, he remembers birthdays, he knows to the words to all the songs written before 1985 and sings along with the radio, he takes the trash without me asking, he got his real estate license to help out when I need it. When I said, "hey hon, there's this family with 5 kids who need some extra lovin on because they have a special needs child, her daddy has passed, she doesn't have a great relationship with her mom, money is tight" His response was "we can adopt grands, let's go" See... what's not to be inspired about by Donald. You don't even know him and you have to love him too, right?
