We loved our pool growing up in Willow Glen, part of San Jose and Silicon Valley, Calif. My brother and I felt we were living the California Dream. A pool made it easy to make friends (everyone loves to come swimming in someone else's pool). It was also great for spontaneous entertaining. Definitely pay attention to these pool maintenance tips.

DIY Pool Maintenance

Having a beautiful well-kept pool takes deliberate cleaning and routine maintenance. A pristine pool doesn’t just happen, no matter how bad we wish there was a pool cleaning fairy. When it comes to the more intricate parts of pool maintenance, such as servicing the water pump and filters, it is important to refer to the manufacturer's warranty. If you want your pool to look as refreshing and glorious as the day it was built, you will have to remain personally involved in the maintenance and general upkeep.

Pool Maintenance Tips:

1.)Vacuum your pool a couple times a week.

Vacuuming your pool on a regular basis can prevent from backwash and keep your pool clean and clear. The pool will use less chemicals if it is maintained in these simple ways.

2.)Skim your pool everyday.

When you have large floating debri, this can sink to the bottom of the pool and be much more difficult to retrieve. To save yourself a forced dive in the pool, skimming the pool daily can reduce the amount of debri stuck the the pool ground. With less debri, the pool’s circulation system will be able to run properly and it will be less work for you in the long-run.

3.) Watch the water level!

This is one of the most important, yet small tasks to remember to check on a daily basis. If the water level gets too low, this can ruin your pool pumps and end up costing a small fortune. Also, in the winter it seems like you would want to keep the pool empty, WRONG. You want to keep your pool filled like normal. The weight of the water in the pool will negate the natural pressure from the ground that pushes upward, against your pool.

Having a pool is so much fun!

A pool is a great treasure, especially in the right season, but the maintenance can seem daunting. With a few daily cleaning tips, your pool will stay beautiful for the years to come. If you are dreaming about having a pool installed but don’t have the immediate funds, speak with a professional at Horizon Lending Services to learn your options. Maybe a home improvement loan can fit your needs!
