Once you’ve been living in Southwest Florida for a little while, you start to notice that your way of life has changed. It’s probably not hard to imagine that living in almost year-round sunshine and with some of the best beaches in the world at your fingertips, you’re likely to develop some new habits. Here’s just a few of the habits you might find yourself developing once you’ve bought a home here..
You’re wearing flip-flops and shorts… in December.
Even as I write this article, it’s a nice sunny, snowless day at the end of November here in Southwest Florida. When you buy a home, you’ll find that you’re constantly seeing residents in flip-flops and shorts nearly all year.
You must have your seafood caught the same day
Another perk to owning a home in Southwest Florida is that our seafood is incredibly fresh. The same day - right-off-the-boat fresh. Quickly, you can develop a taste for the dishes that use only the freshest ingredients.
You vacation in… Southwest Florida
It might seem a little odd at first, but once you’ve lived in Florida for a bit, you start to notice something. Those “tourists” you see sometimes … Many times, they’re actually Florida residents from another part of the state. We love, love, love to vacation in our own backyards. Not only do we get to appreciate the variety of our beaches, we also get to enjoy the regional differences in our cities.
You still can’t believe how affordable the real estate is
Recently, I had a couple share with me their real estate story. As they looked at property throughout the country, they were getting some serious sticker-shock. As a young couple, they were planning on having a baby and wanted to live in an area that fit their lifestyle … without breaking the bank. Well, to make a long story short: they were able to buy a gorgeous 2-bedroom home within walking distance of amenities… for under $150,000. To this day, they love to share how much they still can’t believe how affordable it is.
