One can only imagine the brutal winter of 1777-1778 when Washington and his army waited out the winter in Valley Forge.
Valley Forge is roughly a 30 minute drive from Delaware County.

Gloria Todor - One can only try to fathom the challenges and difficulties endured by the soldiers that persevered through frigid temperatures and multiple hardships...

That had to be a very cold winter. We feel the cold when we go into a vacant building where it it is colder inside than outside. Those shelters just kept them out of the snow

We have traveled to many historic sites like where Washington crossed the Delaware. One thing I thought about was the brutal cold and the poor living conditions. No wonder so many got sick, abandoned the cause or died. That photo looks really cold.

Maria Sapio yes such harsh harsh winter that year.
David Spencer if only it was that easy. Most were just trying to stay alive. A different time for sure!
William Feela yes we do.
Joe Pryor I shutter watching some games on TV.
So true Ed Silva . Shelter from the wind and snow basically.
Debe Maxwell wow a shared birthday for your husband!
Debbie Reynolds Good to visit historical places. We do the same when we travel. We enjoyed seeing an attempt to cross the Delaware River one Christmas day years ago...they turned back since the river was a challenge that day. But still a treat to see the men in boats and uniforms from that time period.
Endre Barath, Jr. LOL!
Myrl Jeffcoat Thank you! Hope your weather/rain has slowed down without too much damage.
