In God We Trust - All Debts Forgiven

If we don't learn from history it will repeat itself.  I don't know who said that, but look around.

Speaking of history, have you ever read Genisis and Exodus in the Holy Bible? Remember in Exodus the part about the forgiveness of debt after 7 years?  Every 7 years anyone who owed you something was forgiven. Slate wiped clean.

Now that would be an economic stimulus package for anyone to offer who is wanting to win this election.  Can you imagine? Fat chance of that happening....

My brother said,"Before you go and do something like that, let me go and borrow some more money."

If these blankety-blank credit card companies knew that their loans had a 7 year life span, would they be pushing for evey Tom, Dick, and Harry to be borrowing money from them?

What about inflation?  What about the value of the U.S. Dollar? What about the value of real estate? What about the tax system?

And what about the value of "In God We Trust"?

Just Do It

Bob- I just remembered that scripture the other day when one of our clients had to file bankruptcy and they were just SO humiliated that they had to file. I know they go to church and I was led to tell them about that scripture. God did want the slate wiped clean. Masters had to free their slaves, indentured servitude could last no more than 7 years. God knows best, too bad people turn their backs on a loving Father.

Interesting perspective Robert.  Our society would be so much different if we operated on the 7 year debt plan.  I bet neighbors would be helping neighbors build houses (like they used to)...and no way would credit card companies even exist.

As Jim said...society now is "it's all about me."  One must put "self" aside to live in a Biblical world.  I guess we'll have to wait for Jesus to come to enjoy a self-less society where debt will never exist.  Is He due to arrive anytime soon?   Have you heard?

Jim, I believe bankruptcy was perhaps founded along the guidelines of this scripture.

More opinions than you want to hear about.
I have no idea how I or many others would afford payments on a mortgage amortized over only seven years.  Be careful what you ask for.  Somebody may take you seriously.
