Continuous Water Falling at Rifle Falls

By

Last week, my husband and I went to the west side of our State and spent the day seeing some of the sights and picking up lots of wonderful peaches.

Here is a picture from the waterfalls at Rifle Falls, CO.

It was a treat to see the gush of continuous water up close and personal.  I just kept wondering where all this water was coming from.

I certainly didn't see any snow on the mountain tops this time of year.

Is there just a big spicket at the top that shoots it out?

Love the picture Belinda! It would be like the Hunger Games if you walked to the top and found a big spicket:)

Thanks for sharing this beautiful scene! Have a great week

That looks like a great spot. I have never been. Maybe we will put it on the list for my next visit.

Hi Belinda - I was there years ago and it looked like that, so whatever it is, there's lots of it. Nice trip!

As the name implies, there is a rifleman standing guard at the top of the cliff ensuring the spigot remains open, thus Rifle Falls.

Hi Belinda,

Beautiful picture. There must be a very high water table or underground reservoir coming off the mountain to create the falls. Our Oak Creek runs all year long because of an underground lake that has about 75 years of water storage under Flagstaff.

Hi Belinda!  Colorado is such a big state and I'm always amazed at how different the northwestern side is from the front range area - which is where I spend most of my "Colorado" time.
