A Sign The Holidays Are Upon Us!

Today is finally one of those days. The gentle pinging of rain hits my patio and steam is billowing off my pool.

Ah, fall. You've arrived to the party! I thought your invitation was lost in the mail! After a record-high 93 degrees on Sunday, today's 45 degree-day is a reminder that if you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait a day or two.

I am not one to skip over holidays, especially Thanksgiving. It's one holiday that I truly enjoy because it signifies a celebration of rest. It is nestled between the chaos of Halloween a month prior, and the chaos that is upon us with Christmas. There aren't many times that it's perfectly acceptable to take a nap after a belly-filling meal while company hangs out. Thanksgiving is just one of those days!

However, even with the hope of Thankgiving, lurks the constant reminder that not everyone is like me. Others are totally on board with "Christmas in July" at Hobby Lobby, or festive music on November 6. I'm not a hater. I love Christmas. But, I also love the anticipation of Christmas...starting on Black Friday.

With that being said, I do love the tradition that the Highland Village Women's ClubCity of Highland Village and The Shops of Highland Village started several years ago. Our Village Glows, is a holiday tradition and features the lighting of a 60-foot Christmas tree and light show themed “Let it Glow! Holiday Light Show Spectacular,” which includes 245,300 LED tree lights synchronized to holiday music.

The party starts at 5 pm on Saturday, November 18, with family-friendly activities like face painting and carriage rides, Santa's arrival, and the tree-lighting ceremony at 6:30 pm. Hope to see you there!

I am hearing Christmas music in some of the stores I visit.
