Single Men or Women: Who is more likely to buy a home when single

Single Ladies Are More Likely to Invest in Real Estate over Single Men

When it comes to investing in Real Estate and purchasing that first home, there's one group more likely to purchase a home while single. The ladies have it here!

From my personal experience and from what I hear from other Real Estate Professionals, more woman do indeed purchase their first home while single over men.

Motto and Bloomberg reported that single women purchased more than twice the number of homes as single men.

Why are single women feeling more compelled to purchase a home vs. their single counterpart? Several reasons are sited in this article by One Trust Home Loans. Some women like the independence it gives them. Some are single mothers and want stability for their children. Others just like the lifestyle it offers. Of course, you have several business savvy women who appreciate the investment opportunity Real Estate offers.

Some women do it because they can. There was once a time you wouldn't hear of a woman owning a home on her own.

Whatever the reason, it's great women have this opportunity. They say 2018 is the year of the woman. Is it possible we'll see even more woman buying Real Estate?

Hi Carla- interesting stats!  I wouldn't have had a clue which gender bought more homes on their own.

Carla, I have seen that too recently with a divorcing couple, the wife made decisions, and the husband went and rented an apartment.

Kathy Streib you're not alone. Others said the same.

Joan Cox that's probably a contributing factor.
