We are seeing them all around our beautiful Scottsdale Arizona. The yellow and lime rental app bikes left on street corners, bus stops, neighborhoods or where ever the rental time runs out. Renters rent the bike on their smart phone app and use them for one way destinations. It appears people love them or hate them. The City of Scottsdale allowed private companies in 2017 to rent bikes using the smart phone apps. Scottsdale welcomes input on bike sharing from residents.
Yellow Bikes For Rent in Scottsdale Arizona end up where the rental time expires or at destinations
I just had a yellow bike that someone left in front of my home in a residential neighborhood. It evidentally ran out of "minutes" since we did not rent the bike. After not being rented again in such an obscure place for 2 weeks, I lifted the yellow bike into my truck and took it to the corner on the main street. Sure enough when left on the main street, it was rented and gone the next day.
What is the future of Yellow and Lime Rental Bikes in Scottsdale?
I understand that the City of Scottsdale is testing the concept and will gather citizen input and make more permanent decisions later.
People may love and encourage our elected officials to keep the rental concept or possibly the bikes may be gathered up and tried elsewhere or eventually look like this for the distant future of Scottsdale.
An amazing tree ate up this old bicycle left next to it. Could this be the future of the yellow and lime bikes in Scottsdale? Just kidding.
A boy left his bike chained to a tree when he went to war in 1914. Tree grows around bike on Vashon Island, Washington state. By Todd Bates on Flickr and also on http://www.duskyswondersite.com/tag/amazing-trees/. Can you imagine what a Yellow rental bike 100 years from now in the year 2118 would look like in a tree on Hayden Road? Leave a letter to your great grandkids advising them where that old bike came from like the boy gone to war in 1914.
Another possible outcome for the yellow and lime bikes are flower holders...This photo was from Duskyswondersite.
