I re-blog for a reason....
I learned how to re-blog from Praful Thakkar.
And now I know why Praful re-blogs.
A re-blog from Praful on the same topic.
I re-blog for a reason....
I re-blog for a reason - or I'd say couple of reasons.
On ActiveRain, I do get a daily drop email of featured posts and I try to go over many of them (well, you can say, now I am really addicted to ActiveRain!). It so happens that the featured posts are limited. And since they are featured, they may have been suggested by many and all of them may have many comments, responses, discussions etc. These could be good candidates for the re-blog! They are re-blogged by many members, anyways.
For me - here is reason#1 for my re-blog:
When I re-blog a post, I try to see that the post does have some interesting content in it. It could be humor, satire, technical tools, information, education, or discussion about a good topic. Or my own personal bias or liking of the author (for example - I like Lou Ludwig's Motivational Power Quotes.)
If you have not subscribed to the post from this member, it is likely that you'll miss something useful, something interesting from this post. Hence I re-blog. I try to keep in mind that there is some time difference. (It does not make sense to re-blog a post within 5 minutes, I think.)
Another reason? Well, I do earn 25 points for each re-blog - up to 250 points maximum each week. (Apart from deposits in my Karma Bank, I'd love deposits in ActiveRain points bank, too!)
At times, I do request a reader of re-blog to post their comments on the original post. This is good for original author to get the credit for their posts.
It does not happen all the time for practical reasons. So, I have a simple question -
Is there a way that these comment points on re-blogs are awarded to the original poster? Will it not be fair for the original poster to get the credit?
And...may be, let me ask you the same question...
Why do you re-blog?
