. We all get the postcards at home from an agent claiming to be "the neighborhood expert" because they want to secure listings in the area,...not because they live there or necessarily know any more than any other agent licensed in that part of the state.
There are many opportunities for agents to become "experts"...to our minds that begins with education...and the education never ends for an agent to continue to claim that expertise.
Back in the day...if you chose to do short sales and had no education...it was obvious to agents who chose to take the time, spend the money, learn the procedures and take the transaction to a successful closing.
The same applies to many other specialties in real estate. We don't believe real estate specialties/niches that are not education based can have the practitioners claim "expertise"...there may well be some experience...not the same thing. Experience is a valuable teacher...expertise is developed ...or we believe started with a firm foundation in an objective educational source...be it a designation or a certification.
If you are a consumer hiring an agent...and need a specific area of expertise for your transaction...ask about not only their experience...but their education in that area. Agents who have taken the time...spent the money...learned the specialty are proud and eager to show you their education credentials in addition to detailing their successful experience.
Agents can brush off the need for "alphabet soup" after their names as not necessary to be successful. We value both the designations and certifications we have....ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative), CDPE (Certified Distressed Property Expert) CLHMS (Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist) E-Pro (Advanced Internet training) Relocation Specialists and REDS (Real Estate Divorce Specialists) among other certifications and explain to Sellers and Buyers what training has involved and how that sets us apart from other agents.o
If you are looking for agents who have an education based practice to hire or refer to for someone Selling or Buying in the counties of Kenosha, Racine, Walworth, Waukesha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington or Jefferson...Call the Hansons 414 525 0563. We are honored to be of service for all things real estate.
