Designations & More Designations ---- Are They Beneficial?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Crescent Moon Realty, Inc. & Land N Sea Auctions.

The subject is Designations. How essential are they? I have started to investigate the relevance designations place in a REALTOR®  life. Which brings up several questions that I have.

•1.   How beneficial are those designations that we as agents seek?

•2.   Have these designations made the agents that have them better then those that do not have them?

•3.   Does the public understand the difference between a CRS designation versus a GRI designation?

•4.   Has having a designation increase you income?

•5.   What designation are important?

Almost daily I receive emails on the subject of getting you designation for this or that, and when I started to tally up the cost, it would take to get some of these designations it becomes costly, and with todays real estate market and the budget many agents are having to adhere to I began too ponder how essential are they?

I have quite a few designations and feel that the CRS is the most worthwhile.  Their classes are the best and fellow Realtors recognize it more for referrals.  As for customers, buyers don't seem to care, however I try to push the additional training during listing presentations.

i just started looking into this myself...going to an e-pro workshop in 2 weeks. this designation is pretty low cost and i feel it would help to show you're an expert in internet marketing.

As a brand-spanking new agent I kimmediately pursued the full GRI course. Had to travel to get it done, but it made me feel that I was ready to begin working with customers, unlike the state licensing course. I asked for recommendations and was told to immediately begin the CRS to boost my career...and did it work!

As for differences in income, visit http://www.crs.com.

The average income differential is huge!

I am working on my GRI designation.  I'm not sure about the income increase, but I know that my knowledge is definitely increasing...  I'll have to wait and see about the income.  :)

I was a broker in NY. I came here in 1999 and never resumed my brokers license. I ad to start over and got my regular license...I've been in the business for almost 13 yrs and figured I didn't really have a use for a designation. I did get my CRS and have already gotten a referral from it so they say you'll make more and have a higher quality of clientele that is referred through CRS. It's supposedly the highest designation to get.

I am glad that you are living where the weather is better. I am going to look into the CRS designation.

Debi:

One of the things that I have learned is that no matter ---- in this industry continue learning is a must.

Vicki:

You are the first one to indicate that the designations can benefit an agent income wise. Thanks.
