Who Hath A Book
by Wilbur D. Nesbit
Who have a book
Hath friends at hand,
And gold and gear
At his command;
And rich estates,
If he but look,
Are held by him
Who hath a book.
Who hath a book
Hath but to read
And he may be
A king, indeed.
His kingdom is
His inglenook-
All this is his
Who hath a book.

Reading pollinates the mind says Patricia Feager

All of these photos were taken at the Public Library in Grapevine, TX. It has a fine collection of books and artifacts. For some unknown reason, the thought of "Easy come, easy go," came into my head. I started thinking. What would happen if all books disappeared because people stopped using the library, and all bookstores closed for good because people chose to get information, including becoming educated on-line?
I'm a believer in the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Not everyone can be a published author. The works of the many books in libraries (not self-published books) took many hours, sometimes years to complete while the author did research. All the while, most received many rejection letters before the final book was published. This led me to wonder, how credible are self-published books? Have you ever read the biography about the author of the published books you read? I have noticed most are Journalists, War Correspondents, or scholars who have earned their Ph.D.
Aren't we the lucky ones who get to post on Social Media without making the sacrifices as those who are published authors? I know for certain there is a person here on ActiveRain who does have a background in Journalism, some Lawyers, Teachers, and there are many who are scholarly. Overall, the diversification of education and expertise in the real estate industry is quite phenomenal. But to be an actual published author, accepted by a Publisher who has credentials is very unique. To bounce an idea off of the poem at the top of this page, borrowed from Wilbur D. Nesbit, aren't we, the members of ActiveRain the lucky ones who "Hath friends at hand," on ActiveRain?
