Private Resort Open to Kona Locals on Sunday

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

When my friend Linda first told me about this place she's been going since I left the islands last November, I did not really understand what the deal was. Then, when we drove there Sunday night, after the Kona Choir Society free holiday performance out on Old Airport, I wondered if I would ever find it again.

It's not an easy place to find. In part because one needs to navigate through a condo complex. I always struggle with condo listings because I can drive those vast parking, driveways and private streets for a long time in circles, searching for that building. Even when I know approximately where it is, I still have a hard time finding stuff in condo complexes.

But once we found the resort that has opened its doors to Kona locals last Sunday, I can see whywe'll be back. I had a spinach, strawberry, feta cheese and shrimp salad that was really good. Music was fabulous. Met a lot of new people. How can you go wrong? You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: Sunset Terrace Restaurant and Bar at Kona Coast Resort.

That's a beautiful scene, Elizabeth.  Was it taken near the old Keahou Beach Hotel?  It looks familiar!  I just learned that the place was demolished last year.

Hi Elizabeth- Now that's a view!!!!  Interesting that they are opening it up to locals!  Many of the restaurants and hotels here have specials during our off-season (summer)

Lovely area, Elizabeth. Looks as if you enjoyed a real treat of an evening. I'm with you about condo complexes. My daughter had to talk me home one night when I was visting her in the Denver area...all the damn buildings look the same. :)

Myrl Jeffcoat No, this is closer to Sam Choy's. They are still working on hauling away crap from the Keauhou Hotel.

Kathy Streib Unfortunately, Hawai'i Island lost a big chunk of income from tourism this year. Officials put that number at slightly more than 10% drop, but I would not be surprised to learn later it is much larger than that.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD I know, right? Why can't they put a condo layout map at the entrance showing where the buildings are located with a YOU ARE HERE pin, LOL?
