What to do in Door County this weekend?
Uncork Summer!
A GEM of an idea blossomed as part of an annual Ellison Bay festival over six years ago, and as Uncorked Summer enters its sixth year, it's still serving as one of the most major draws to the northernmost parts of the Peninsula in the summer.
The 2019 event will be held, as per previous years, on the grounds of the Wickman House, perhaps Door County's most established "foodie" establishment. In 2011, as a Liberty Grove Town Supervisor, I remember approving the owners' first liquor license in Ellison Bay and wishing them well.
NO ONE could have predicted just exactly how well they'd do. What they congevial owners have done in 8 short years is amazing. With publicity from around the nation and the world, Wickman House is likely Ellison Bay's number one draw from around the nation besides The Clearing, a school for adults founded by Jen Jensen.
This year, like others, will offer fine and casual food from dozens of Door County establishments, and even I will be there to represent our office, should you need to casually or intently discuss Door County real estate over one of the many craft cocktails, fine beers and wines they will serve to the thousands of people that will flock downtown this weekend (carpooling is encouraged and trolley rides are generally available from public parking).
Make the most of it! Take a look around Ellison Bay, with its parks, marina, public beach, eclectic shopping (from gorgeous pottery to homemade, Door County craft granola), and dining that ranges from very fine to greasy grill to German.
So I hope to see you at the 2019 Uncorked Summer! And if you miss me, you can search Door County and Liberty Grove real estate 24/7 at our site at moredoorcounty.com
