Pool Replacement Project at Cordova's Hagan Park

By
Real Estate Agent

I've been particularly interested in the pool replacement project at Hagan Community Park.  I have tried taking pictures to share with my kids (now grown), who took swim lessons there in the 1970s, and also swam on the Blue Marlins.

However, I found this video on the Cordova Park and Recreation website.  It provides a better overview than I was able to capture with my camera, from a lessor vantage point.

I'm excited for next summer!  Hopefully, the Covid-19 will free us up for better times, and the pool project will be completed for us all to enjoy!

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - This was a gigantic project.  The pool complex had 3 pools prior to beginning this project.  There was an 8 lane competition pool, a dive pool with 6 lanes, and a recreation pool which was great for the kids.

The redo will give us a 10 lane competion pool, and a recreation pool.  They began in May.  First they had to remove all the old pools, put in infrastructure, and then form and gunite.  The other day, when I was there, I noticed they have installed tile, but they are still a long way off from finishing.  Yet, there are a ton of men, and a lot of equipment working very hard on the project.  Pool opening is scheduled for next Summer!

Will Hamm - It is a major project, no question about it!  I hope the pandemic and the pools are ready by next summer.

Hello Myrl - it's a summertime and the temps are approaching and stretching beyond 100 degrees in much of the Los Angeles area recently, thoughts of pools are definitely in the "air" too.

Kathy Streib - Yes, it is a very large project.  There was the demolition of the 3 old pools, and then then the now on-going construction of the new facilities.

George Souto - Yes, the main pool will have 10 lanes for competition, plus a deep area with diving board.  There is also a second pool that is built more for recreation.

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR - Yes, it's a huge project.  It has taken us about 5 years just to get funding, planning, and now construction of all this, put together!

That will be nice Myrl. A competition pool, a dive pool and recreational pool for all seems that this project will be appreciated by many when completed!

Myrl Jeffcoat - This was very educational. Thanks for the link and the information. Now I know why homeowners complain about pool repairs and now I have an answer about why it's so costly. There is a tremendous amount of work that goes on and skimping on price wouldn't be wise but rather very foolish. Everything beneath the surface of the pool is critical for total swimming pool enjoyment.
