In One Ear
And Out The Other
There is noise. And disruption. Lots of stuff that prevents us from hearing. And seeing. Sensory experiences of many kinds can confirm initial thoughts as well as confuse.
Some may say it is a situation where overload is the cause. Is it a question of just enough, too much or something else?
I learned quickly in the NBA
that you keep one eye open at all times
and one ear closed.
You can't react to everything you hear or see.
Kelvin Sampson
I didn't immediately recall the name Kelvin Sampson but a quick search told me he is the Houston Rockets basketball coach.
I don't know or can't remember everything I have learned especially in the world of sports. My knowledge of places may be a bit better but I haven't visited Houston or even the state of Texas.
If I needed to seek additional information beyond a rather basic level, I know Kathy Streib can answer many sports questions as well as some bits of Houston history.
Being a know-it-all is not particularly appealing. That is unless you have been selected as a Jeopardy! television game show contestant but knowing who to ask can often lead to answers and other happy occurrences.
As long as we continue to improve at every opportunity while maintaining those important connections to the experts, that's a good thing. Maybe, just maybe, some of that increased knowledge will become a part of our lives.
