James 3:9-10
“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s like-ness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.”
I will be the first to admit even though I spend a lot of time praising God, I still often will encounter difficult situations that I could handle better. If someone in that situation causes more trouble than I thought should have happened my mouth can turn from praise to cursing.
It may not be directly to them in the heat of the moment, but I do often directly tell people my thoughts with the filter off. Sometimes it’s me explaining the situation with less then praise worthy comments about the person I see as difficult to my spouse or business team members. Other times I may just get caught up in a conversation that turns from unproductive to negative in a way that I look back on as “cursing” coming out of my mouth.
I thank the Lord for grace and mercy because I sure need it often. Now the outcome I seek and wish for you to seek as well is that we continue to improve the words we use to uplift, praise and encourage not only the Lord, but other people as well. It is written to bless your enemies and do good to those who persecute you! And that is because all have been made in God’s like-ness. You can look at all people as a child of God. You have undeveloped GOOD in you and so do they. Each time you slow down, think, and respond in love and in kindness you sprinkle a little more of God’s goodness into the world.
LORD EACH DAY I ASK FOR YOUR HELP TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF PRAISES THAT COME OUT OF MY MOUTH. AND IF I LOSE MY WAY AND SPEAK WORDS THAT ARE A CURSING, PLEASE SHOW ME THIS, HELP ME DO BETTER, AND SHOW GRACE TO ME!
*Meditate, pray or affirm the words in BOLD or that are highlighted! Look for short daily messages from me to spread seeds of hope, encouragement, and expansion of your mind, body and spirit daily!
